Stand with refugees and migrants:
Call your congresspersons and
OPPOSE President Trump’s
executive orders affecting immigration and refugees!
Make some calls. Take a stand. Let Congress know you’re against President Trump’s executive orders affecting immigration and refugees.
(30 Seconds): Look up all 3 of your congresspersons’ office numbers using GovTrack.
(5 minutes): Call all three of your congresspersons and let them know you oppose President Trump’s executive orders affecting immigration and refugees. You can write your own script or use this one:
Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent of [Senator/Representative ______] in [CITY]. I’m calling today because I oppose President Trump’s executive orders affecting immigration and refugees. As a [Catholic/Person of Faith], I believe in welcoming persecuted families and individuals to the U.S., regardless of their faith, and in creating humane immigration policies that respect human rights and family unity. Could you tell me the congressperson’s stances on the executive orders affecting immigration and refugees? [Wait for response.] Please let the Congressperson know that I oppose them and encourage [him/her] to work towards reversing them as soon as possible. Thanks.
(30 seconds): Take a post-call video, and say “I just took the 6-minute Ignatian Advocacy Challenge to stand with refugees and migrants, and I nominate [Person 1], [Person 2], and [Person 3] to join me.” Feel free to get creative with your message!
STEP TWO:
Time to challenge some Jesuit network friends to join you! Pick a platform to spread the word: Facebook or Twitter.
